Well before you start adding notebooks for scrap paper to your list there are a few other options that you may want to consider.
Many homeschooling parents like to purchase a few extra notebooks in order to use for math problems or for extra spelling practice. If however, you are looking to cut back on a few of your back to homeschooling expenses, chalkboard paint my be a good idea. Below are five great uses for chalkboard paint in the home school area.
1. Put the desk to good use
If your kids have a desk or table that they use as a desk, you can cover the top of the desk with chalkboard paint. Chalkboard paint comes in black so it can look nice on the top of any desk. Your child can use the top of the desk to write down math problems as they figure them out, or practice writing spelling words.
2. Chalkboard Wall
If you have a spare wall in your home you can paint one wall in the room. The wall can be used as a regular chalk board for a classroom. You can also leave a special message on the wall every morning for your child. This can be a lot of fun for kids, and really saves you money.
3. Decorate the fridge
You can also put some of the chalk board paint on the top part of the fridge. This way you can leave chore messages, and reminders for the kids throughout the day. This is a great way to keep your kids on a chore schedule, and put it in a place where everyone can see.
4. Use it to decorate some of the cabinets
Have you ever had a hard time keeping your young children occupied while you are doing dishes? Or while you are cleaning something in the kitchen? Well by putting chalkboard paint on the bottom of the cabinets can really help give the kids something to do.
5. Chalkboard floor
If you have a separate room that you use for the kids homeschool activity, than perhaps you may want to consider painting the floor with chalkboard paint. Of course under normal circumstances you may not want your kids to write on the floor. But if the floor is covered in chalkboard paint it will be easier to keep them occupied and keep the floor clean.
